The mission of the Safety Education Section is to provide Hunter, Boating, Snowmobile and Trapping Safety courses to both children and adults. These four courses are primarily designed to train young people and are mandatory for certain age groups if they wish to hunt, trap, operate a motor boat, personal water craft, or operate a snowmobile in Illinois.
Courses are available throughout Illinois and are sponsored by various conservation clubs, park districts, public service organizations and other interested groups. State certified volunteer instructors teach these safety education classes and are the backbone of the Safety Education Program, donating thousands of hours of personal time teaching and promoting safe hunting, trapping, boating and snowmobiling.
