TO PROTECT AND SERVE. The Sparta Police Department consists of 16 full-time officers, ten part-time officers and two civilian support staff. The Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and serves a population of approximately 9,000. Patrol Officers work a four on, two off rotation. Three primary shifts, days 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., afternoons 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. and nights 10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m. insure 24-hour coverage. Each shift is lead by a Police Sergeant and the Patrol Officers are assigned to one of two patrol sectors.
