The Port Washington Police Department provides a multitude of services to the community in a number of areas including traffic safety; adult, juvenile, and youth programs; investigative, crime prevention and general administration. The current staffing level is nineteen sworn police officers. Civilian support personnel include four full-time dispatchers, one permanent part-time dispatcher, one part-time dispatcher/court clerk, one administrative secretary, one parking enforcement officer and one custodian shared with city hall. The dispatching staff answer and dispatch all police, fire and emergency medical service calls for service. The dispatch center also handles all Enhanced 9-1-1 emergency calls for the City of Port Washington as well as fire and ambulance dispatches for the Town of Port Washington.
