TO PROTECT AND SERVE. In 2004 the UCR (Uniform Crime Rate) in Springville rose again just 4% in the last year to 1042 Part I Crimes, (Rape, Robbery, Theft, Burglary, Arson, Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and Motor Vehicle Theft). This follows a 9% increase from the year before. Responded to 13,434 calls for service in 2004. Arrested a total of 1,070 offenders in 2004. Arrested 237 juveniles in 2004, down 8% from 2003. Arrested 800 adults in 2004, down 55 arrests from 2003. Taught the Introduction to Law Enforcement class to 75 High School students. Presented 119 safety and crime prevention presentations to the community. Arrested 32 persons in 2004 for DUI. Issued 2.449 citations in 2004. Worked collaboratively with the Utah Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) to investigate 118 reports of child abuse and neglect.
