The Police Department strives to provide the highest degree of professional police service possible for the community. Police officers are required to be certified by C.L.E.E.T. (Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training). After the initial certification there is a yearly minimum requirement of continuing education to remain certified. The Department offers several programs to the citizens, such as Alert Neighbors, Senior Safety, Gun Safety for Children and The Citizen�s Police Academy, as well as the VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service) program, which is designed to assist the Department in day-to-day operations and special events. The officers participate in such programs as Police K-9, Mounted Patrol, Bicycle Patrol, C.O.D.E. Team/D.E.A. Task Force and Special Operations Team.
