The Oxford Police Department is dedicated to a philosophy of Community Oriented Policing. With this in mind, the department has divided the city into 5 geographical districts. The patrol officers have been divided into teams with a Sergeant as their supervisor. Each team has then been given personal "ownership" of one of the districts. The hope is that the officers will become more reachable and take a more personal interest in their district. The goal is for the officers and the community members to work together to solve problems.
