Springfield Township's Police Department was established in 1960 and currently has forty-six (46) full-time and four (4) part-time sworn officers. The department has several specialized divisions including: K-9, Vice, and Detective units, traffic-safety and school resource officers, and neighborhood bike patrols. Township police officers also participate in the regional Drug Abuse Resistance Team (D.A.R.T.) and countywide Special Weapons And Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team. The Police Department employs seven (7) civilian personnel in its Records and Communications Division.
