The Cherryville Police Department is a full-service department offering protection for the citizens of Cherryville. Our department is made up of the following units: Administration:
Consists of the Chief of Police, Captain, and Administrative Assistant.
Criminal Investigations:
Consists of one investigator who handles all major crimes. This Investigator works closely with the Patrol Division on all cases. There is also one Narcotics Investigator.
Patrol Division:
Consists of two sergeants, four Patrol Teams of 1 Senior Patrol Officer and 2 Patrol Officers each, and four reserve officers
Communications:
Consists of four full-time telecommunications dispatching officers 24 hours a day. Communications also dispatches calls for Public Works and Utilities after normal business hours. Also consists of four part-time telecommunicators.
Specialized Units:
The Cherryville Police Department received grant funding from the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program in 2003 to hire and fully equip one Traffic Unit Officer. This grant covers salary, vehicle and all related equipment and contributes funds on a reduced percentage per year for a period of three years.
