The Washington Police Department current staffing is 1 full-time Chief, 4 part-time officers, a part-time secretary and a volunteer animal control officer. The sworn officers provide an average of 60 hours of duty time a week, and triple that in call time. During 2005 they handled nearly 1400 calls for service.
