The Joplin Police Department proudly serves a population of 46,000 citizens (swelling to approximately 210,000 on any given weekday) within a 35 square mile area with 77 sworn officers and 11 civilian employees.
The Department has four different divisions: The Administrative Division, composed of the Office of the Chief of Police and the Professional Standards Unit; the Investigative Division, which investigates all felony crimes and includes Narcotics Unit, devoted to the fight against methamphetamine; the Patrol Division, which includes the Traffic Team; and the Technical Services Division, which is responsible for maintaining, storing and providing copies of police reports to the public.
