The Plainfield Metropolitan Police Department originated in 1920. The Department currently employs 44 Full-Time Sworn Police Officers, 10 Reserve Officers, 6 Community Support Officers, 1 Evidence Technician, 2 Records Clerks, 2 Secretaries and 18 Communications Officers.
Mission Statement
To provide community-oriented law enforcement designed to protect life and property, by means of the highest professional standards, while affording dignity and respect to every individual. To serve as the first line of defense concerning Homeland Security, through proactive criminal intelligence and analysis, as well as preparedness to respond to critical incidents. The mission is to be attained by more public interaction, high visibility, continual self-assessment and dedicated, concerned service to the public.
