In the Edwardsville Police Department there are now thirty-six (36) sworn officers among the staff of fifty (50) full-time employees and one part-time employee. In addition to traditional police services, including participation in the regional undercover drug enforcement group, the department administers an exemplary D.A.R.E. program and has five officers assigned full-time to the middle, alternative, and senior high schools, as school resource officers. As part of the overall community policing philosophy adopted by the department, several patrol officers are identified as Ward Officers and serve as liaisons to neighborhood groups, businesses, and the elected officials.
