The department has a staff of 76 full-time and part-time employees. Currently, there are 53 sworn police officers, 18 civilian support personnel and four part-time school-crossing guards. The Uniformed Patrol Division is responsible for operating within seven zones of the city and providing a uniformed patrol force. The patrol force is the initial responder to citizen complaints and law enforcement emergencies. It is also responsible for investigating traffic crashes, traffic control and enforcement, parking enforcement, coordination of special event duties, marine and bike patrol and electronic dispatching and recording of calls for service.
