The Granby Department of Police Services was established in 1959. The Department is responsible for the preservation of the public peace, the prevention of crime, and the apprehension of criminal violators. The Department serves to regulate traffic, investigate motor vehicle collisions and enforce the laws of the State of Connecticut and the municipal ordinances of the Town of Granby.
Additionally, the Department of Police Services acts as the recognized First Responder to requests for emergency medical assistance within the Town of Granby, pending the arrival of the appropriate emergency medical service provider. Patrol vehicles are equipped with an Automatic External Defibrillator. All officers are at least certified by the State of Connecticut as Medical Response Technicians and many have advanced certification as Emergency Medical Technicians.
