The East Hartford Police Department was founded in November of 1895 with the appointment of one police officer, Patrolman Joseph C. Bogue. The Department has since grown to employ 134 sworn officers and 40 civilian employees, headquartered at the Public Safety Complex at 31 School Street. The EHPD, the largest Connecticut police department East of the Connecticut River, is a full service law enforcement agency, providing 24-hour service and protection to our community and its residents.
