The department was formed in July of 1985 to serve and protect the citizens and visitors to Pinetop-Lakeside. Located in the heart of the White Mountains of Arizona, the Town enjoys all four seasons of the year and draws visitors on a year-round basis. The police department's main goal is to provide the people of the community a safe environment to work, play and enjoy. Welcome to the Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department's Field Operations Bureau. The Bureau is supervised by a Commander and is staffed with three sergeants, eight patrol officers, a School Resource Officer and an Animal Control Officer. The Bureau is also supplemented by a number of volunteers who participate in the department's Volunteers in Policing (V.I.P.) program who add to the eyes and ears of the department and assist in many nonhazardous areas where a sworn officer is not required.
