Ensuring enforcement of criminal and traffic law regulations and ordinances of the State of Alaska and the City of Ketchikan. The Public Safety Director manages administration, which in turn oversees all remaining divisions. Functions include but are not limited to: administration and evaluation of personnel; establishment and enforcement of policies and procedures; maintenance and operation of police facility, and vehicle fleet; and community relations. This division ensures quality commitment to the community and department personnel.
The Operations Division has assigned two lieutenants, four sergeants, twelve officers and two detectives. All work a �4 ten schedule� with Wednesdays being either a training day, activity day or holiday. One drugs detective and a school resource officer work flexible schedules. Five dispatchers, an evidence custodian and one parking enforcement officer comprise the rest of the department and work �five 8�s".
